Akimbo Technologies is looking for a System Level Embedded Test Engineer with real-time operating system experience for its Ottawa location. You will work within a creative team to implement software solutions to a new and challenging paradigm. You will share the opportunity to contribute to the entire development lifecycle of an innovative fault tolerant distributed computing solution. This includes all phases of development from concept formulation, design to deployment.

Experience:

  • embedded sw development: 3 years (required)
  • C/C++: 3 years (preferred)
  • RTOS ( QNX or VxWorks, not HTML, JS): 3 years (required)
  • System Level testing: 5 years (required)

Responsibilities:

  • Work within a team of smart and talented people to develop and deliver innovative automated solutions
  • Implement, design and test automated systems using modern languages, tools and methods
  • Create and assemble test benches for new hardware components
  • Validate hardware functionalities and limits with basic and environment stress tests
  • Share ideas for innovation and process improvements
  • Develop metrics to ensure quality goals are met or exceeded

Required Experience and Education:

  • Canadian residency
  • A self-starter with drive, curiosity and passion to push the boundaries
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science/software engineering/electrical engineering or mathematics
  • 5 years professional experience in test engineering, C/C++ development
  • Experience with Git source control management
  • Experience with real-time embedded software development

  • Automation and test fixture design, and strong coding ability
  • Strong ability for troubleshooting and problem solving

  • Generating key metrics to enable informed decisions on tests and automation

Assets:

  • Real-time application development and testing
  • MCU expresso or equivalent
  • Experience with network, CAN bus, TCP/IP, …
  • Low level debugging experience
  • Experience in the automotive industry
  • Development with Python
